With powerful and passionate melodies, music written for the Broadway stage has become some of the most popular music of all time. We are now delighted to offer this new collection by Christopher of songs from that street named Broadway.

“Without a song the day would never end; Without a song the road would never bend; When things go wrong a man ain’t got a friend . . . Without a song.”

These lyrics, written in 1929 by Youmans, Rose & Eliscu for the musical play “Great Day,” were just the beginning of the marriage of music and drama being presented in a group of New York City theaters sharing a street named Broadway.

With hundreds of “Broadway Musicals” being written since, the development of this musical form demanded that the successful shows be written by composers and lyricists who understood that the song must further develop and progress the drama. Despite this fact, many Broadway songs have proven over the years the ability to stand alone. I have recorded a few of my favorites on “Pianoforte Opus 1: Popular Requets,” and now I am delighted to offer more special songs from that street named Broadway.
